LOST: Expose

Moments/Quotes/Notes:

  • “Who the hell’s Nikki?” (lol, no kidding)
  • Art sighting (In one piece)
  • She’s the “pen girl” that Boone stopped
  • Paolo (Wolfgang Puck of Brazil LOL) I almost didn’t recognize him without the facial hair
  • Boone and Shannon sighting! (Foreshadowing, no?)
  • Promise me we’ll never end up like them.
  • “Why are his pants undone? And why is his shoe in that tree?”
  • “That’s evidence! You’re messing up the crime scene!”; “Crime scene? Is there a forensics hatch I don’t know about?”
  • Contact with Ethan… he must be making the list
  • 20 new different species?
  • Drug plane sighting… and they found the hatch on their own
  • “It was like Baywatch only better”
  • “The Cobra was this big bad guy whose identity has been shrouded in mystery for four seasons”
  • Bag = $8M
  • “Things don’t stay buried on this island” (even if they’re dead?)
  • Ben and Juliet sighting at the pearl station (didn’t that answer a lot of questions?)
  • “I find out what he’s emotionally invested in… and I exploit it.”
  • “This place gives me the creeps”
  • “No offense dude, but as far as superpowers go, yours are kind of lame.”
  • Charlie comes clean with Sun
  • Replay of the bathroom scene at the pearl station
  • “And who the hell are you?” (The 2nd time)
  • Do they have internet with wikipedia on the island or did Nikki know a lot about the spider’s paralytic qualities?

I was thinking they had “good color” when they were laying in the pit and wouldn’t it suck if they weren’t really dead. Then when Sawyer scattered the diamonds over them, I knew there must be a way they weren’t… (and hence the reason she buried the diamonds)

Cool things:
I liked that the writing tied in so many events/places/previous scenes into this week’s episode. Jack’s Live together/Die alone speech, Boone asking for the pen, the trip to the pearl, the lagoon, the bathroom scene at the pearl station, etc. Now I realize why those moments were written in and shown earlier.

Motifs:
Poison
Guns

Answers:
Ben knew of Jack’s profession/capabilities; everything revolves around his plan.
The Others did use the Pearl station to watch the Losties.
We know who the heck Nikki and Paulo are and why they were on their own so much.

Thoughts/Questions:
So, if there are venomous spiders in our LOST jungle, why is this the first someone has gotten bitten?
Why did they also want Kate and Sawyer? It sounded like they wanted them before they had decided to grab Jack.

House: Top Secret

Random notes, quotes, and moments:

  • It’s Riley! (BtVS fan here)
  • “Actually he’s only in the navy when they sang ‘In the Navy’. The rest of the time he’s just in regular fatigues.”
  • “Cameron - you little tiger.”
  • “I HAVEN’T PEED IN 3 DAYS”
  • Chase’s look on his face when Cameron told Foreman
  • “Did you just take 2 Vicadin?”
    • “No it’s an antidepressant. I was told to take two every time you walked into the room.”
  • “John, we’re gonna figure out what is wrong with you but we need to know one thing - have you ever appeared in any pornos?” (Medicine at its finest)
  • Heheh. Loved the dream sequence and then the
  • “There’s no medicine like happiness. except maybe laughter…”
  • What percent of this ep was filmed in the bathroom? I guess it fit.
  • “Stop making this about me, this is your humiliation”
  • “Superfly”

American Idol Top 10 performances

Gwen Stefani (& her influences) Week

Lakisha Jones
“Dynamic” - Gwen Stefani (btw, how cool would it be to have Gwen give you props!)

Lakisha makes performing look like a breeze. She really has an amazing voice. This week, Lakisha had a fun, disco piece. Better song fit this week over last. Vocally, I thought she was perfect as always, but I still felt a little disconnected from her. Cute dress though.

Chris Sligh
It is tough to take on a Sting song because he is so distinctive, but I enjoyed Chris’ rendition. I like the tone of his voice. However, his lack of annunciation on some word endings stood out to me because it didn’t sound polished. I agree that his timing threw off the performance. I hope he can get a better feel of the music going forward. Good song choice this week, Chris.

“Not the Oscars!” - Simon, on being cut off by the music

Gina Glocksen
For me, one of her best performances. I loved the warmth and passion in her voice. I thought she would rock out this week, but the power ballad was probably a better choice to showcase her talent. Her voice sounded full and smooth. Perfect key for her vocal range.

She reminded me so much of Heart tonight - even down to the colored streaks in her hair. And, yes, I did see Heart in concert back in the day…

Sanjaya Malakar
“I don’t fit in, so why do you want me?” - lyrics to Bathwater (*snicker*)

It was better than last week (not saying much). I had to agree with the judges… I’ve been saying for the last few weeks that the guy never brings it; he sings so softly. Last week didn’t count since he was yelling (not singing). Sanjaya, you’re sweet and cute like a puppy dog. But can we send him home now people?

Not even going to comment on the hair…. although I wonder if it was a tribute (gone terribly wrong) to his pig-tailed fan from last week…

Haley Scarnato
“Eye-candy” - Mr. TV Junkie’s description.

I think she’s actually improving each week. Or, at least picking better songs that suit her. I can’t say the same for her taste in outfits. They all look like over sized tunics without pants. She is so pretty, but the outfits are distracting to me (as in “What was she thinking?”). This week’s attire seemed a little more conservative. Maybe because it had sleeves. Oops,I digress… isn’t this a singing competition? Beautiful rendition of the song, but lacking “Yo!”

Phil Stacey
Such an improvement vocally over the last few weeks. He can sing! He was wise to be conservative with his stylizing and then pull it all out at the end. I thought it was a soulful performance from him.

Melinda Doolittle
How cute did she look this week? I love her vocal phrasing and how she “tells a story” as Paula put it. She genuinely looks at home on stage - confident and comfortable. I see her in the final episode :) If not, she’ll still get a contract somewhere. I know we’ll continue to see her around.

Blake Lewis
“Chris Daughtry zone” - that necessarily a bad thing?

Of all the song choices Blake had this week, this one was a little puzzling. I love The CURE (felt like I was in high school again), but I had to agree with Randy/Simon that it was veering into boringtown. Nice to not beatbox or over-stylize each week. That gets predictable as well. I was surprised the judges gave such high remarks over this song as I thought it was just “okay”, but I do agree that he is one of the better male performers, if not the best of the men.

Jordin Sparks
“Just refreshing” - Gwen
I love this song - the beat and the energy. So do my kids LOL. We sing the chorus back and forth to each other. Great, youthful song for Jordin. At her age and with her talent, she can take song choice risks like this. A little pitchy in her lower register, but her vocal runs and her long/big notes are awesome. Very cute, upbeat performance with edge.

Chris Richardson
“Just Goood” - Paula
Chris was working his camera-eyes tonight. I don’t mind though. Does that make me a weepy 12-year old with pigtails??? (Poor thing is going to have that replayed over and over for the rest of her life…) I think Chris is better than bottom two. Let’ s hope America thinks so too. I wouldn’t mind getting stared down seeing more performances from Chris.

As I mentioned earlier, I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s results show! I actually don’t fast forward the Ford commercials this year.

Did you have a favorite from tonight’s performance? Who do you think will go home?

American Idol Top 10 (Pre-show thoughts)

And then there were 10…

Is there anyone that you miss?

It ROCKS that Gwen Stefani will be this week’s guest musician. I’m looking forward to see if Gina steps it up a notch after her master class with the former No Doubt forerunner. I had 5th row seats to a No Doubt concert a few years back 10 years ago. She’s a fun and energetic performer (although not quite good enough to get my husband to participate in the all-male audience singing “I’m Just a Girl”). I look forward to seeing her perform on Wednesday!

I’ll be back post-show to post my recap!

24 - Day 6, 8pm - 9pm

Moments:

  • “Ricky” Schroeder in the bylines. Heehee… I thought he went by Rick now.
  • We find the source of the link. A new character (that I know of), Hauser. Can you say “Rain Man”?
  • Grdenko and his wild hair.
  • Poor Nadia in holding.
  • Temecula - I’ve been there.
  • Regina King is “back” after a few hours. Must have been the super quick flight to Washington from CA.
  • “You’ve screwed with the wrong guy for the last time pal”
  • Milo plants a big one.
  • Waiting and more waiting for President Palmer. They’re the 24 equivalent to the Kennedys.
  • Mr. TVJunkie’s comment: “You’d think they’d have a crash cart ready next a President.”
  • Jack did well with Brady considering his usual harsh demeanor.
  • Wow, a captured suspect without any “snags”.
