LOST: Through the Looking Glass *Updated*

Where do I begin? (I decided to watch the 2-hour finale without the laptop, so a break from my normal full recap tonight.)

So many good things and questions in tonight’s episode. I hope I can remember them before I fall asleep.

(Beware of spoilers before opening the link if you haven’t seen the episode!)

American Idol “This Is My Now” lyrics

Written by Jeff Peabody and Scott Krippayne

There was a time
I packed my dreams away
Living in a shell
Hiding from myself
There was a time
When I was so afraid
I thought I’d reached the end
But Baby that was then
‘Cuz I am made of more than my yesterdays.

This is my now.
I’m breathing in the moment.
As I look around,
I can’t believe the love I see.
My fear is behind me.
Gone are the shadows and doubt
That was then.
This is my now.

And I have the courage like never before. Yeah.
I settled for Less
But I’m ready for more
Ready for more

This is my now.
And I’m breathing in the moment.
As I look around,
I can’t believe the love I see.
My fear is behind me.
Gone are the shadows and doubt
That was then.
This is my now.

And I’m breathing in the moment.
As I look around,
I can’t believe the love I see.
My fear is behind me.
Gone are the shadows and doubt
That was then.
This is my now.
This is my now.

American Idol Top 2: Blake vs. Jordin!

Seattle Rocks American Idol S6

(Click Idol Talk button for more reviews)

“100,000 down; 2 to go. One guy, one girl, and one last chance to win your vote. This is the night. This is the audience. This is American Idol.” - Ryan Seacrest

Funnies and Notables:

  • “Simon Cleavage”
  • Paula broke her nose? Tripping on painkillers her dog, Tulip? (Ya know we luv ya, Paula.)
  • Blake won the coin toss (done with a nifty little coin) and asked Jordin if she wanted to go first or second. What a gentleman.
  • Blake has never seen an American Idol finale, yet he is one of the final two.
  • Is the lighting so bright in the Kodak Theatre that the boys have to wear eyeliner?

Round #1

Blake - “You Give Love a Bad Name” Bon Jovi

Smart song choice from Blake’s previous performances. Although, the running across the stage was distracting. I kept thinking Blake would bop himself in the face with the mic. LOL

Jordin - “Fighter” Christina Aguilera

Jordin has an incredible voice. We all knew that. She came out blazing guns like a true “Fighter” with a Christina song. Not too many contestants can pull that off. Can you believe she’s only 17?

Had she not gone up against Blake’s popular performance, I think Jordin would have yielded even more praise. I thought this was a great song choice and one of her best performances of the season.

Round #2

Blake - “She Will Be Loved” Maroon 5

Blake sounded smooth, sensitive… and extremely safe. As the contestant noted for being unique and risky, I was surprised by Blake’s song choice. After all, he’s going up against one of the more talented singers. I wonder why he didn’t capitalize on his talent and characteristic style. Blakey, what were you thinking??!! I think this choice could cost him the competition.

Jordin - “Broken Wing” Martina McBride

Not my favorite season performance, but still great vocals from Jordin!

Round #3 - “This Is My Now” - Songwriter’s competition winner

Halfway though, poor Blake looked bored with the song. I thought he did really well through the first half of the song during the verse. He reminded me of Savage Garden. Then at the key change, Blake hit a rough patch. He started bouncing and suddenly the song lost its momentum. Given that this song was not his style or genre, he should have been more aggressive and picked a song he could stylize for the new/unheard performance choice. Dont’cha think?? Moving on…

I thought Jordin would soar with this song, and she did on the chorus. The girl can rock those big, long notes, but the verse was a little rough as if it was in her break point. There were some pretty tough note changes and the song’s range was fairly big.

Jordin, however, won huge points for having a genuine, heartfelt performance. No doubt the lyrics of this ballad really captured the heart of the competition (unless you’re a producer and it’s all about the biggest moneymaker).
Celebrity sightings:

Constantine, Denise Richards, Rick Schroeder, Marlee Matlin, “Alex Karev”, Jennifer Hudson, kids cast from “So you think you’re smarter than a 5th grader?”, Kathy Griffin, and…

Chris Daughtry gets his American Idol Finale performance! Did you recognize anyone else that I missed?

Who do you think will win??? Be sure to lock in your vote below! I’ll be happy if either one wins :)

We interrupt this regularly scheduled blog…

Holy rotten plug-ins, Batman!

So sorry to my weekend visitors who might have received a 404 error on my blog. Apparently, one of my plug-ins was causing my individual posts to “disappear”. But, with the help of BlueHost customer support, I was pointed in the right direction. (I enjoyed talking TV with him too!)

If you are looking for a bloghost or webhost, I highly recommend BlueHost!

(Note: BlueHost doesn’t provide technical support for WordPress, but their customer service still is fantastic.) ;)

Season Finales week (Dancing with joy)

One of my favorite family moments of this weekend (and possibly all-time) was replaying Blake Lewis’ Top 3 performance “When I get you alone” for the kids.

As Little Einstein fans, they are familiar with the first few bars of the song that are originally taken from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. The clip immediately caught their attention and they started dancing along.

All of the kids, including my youngest who is 16 months old, were waving their arms in the air and swinging their hips or hopping or bobbing in pure happiness and enjoyment. They even wanted to replay the performance again. I’d say we have some Blake fans in the house.

Since it’s season finales week and the final week before DS’ birthday bash, I’ll either be cleaning house, watching my DVR or writing recaps this week. (Heroes finale countdown in under 3 hours!!!)

In the meantime, enjoy Blake - my kids did!

LOST Finale Spoilers (?!) and Looking Glass reviews

Ever since I went cold-turkey and quit reading spoilers prior to the Season 5 Finale of BtVS, I decided NOT to take a peek at episode spoilers or visit forums before actually watching. (And if you know what BtVS episode I’m talking about, then you know how surprising the last 5 minutes were!)

But, with season finales just days away, I have ventured a look-see at the pre-show buzz for ABC’s LOST and NBC’s Heroes. I’ve managed to find a couple interesting (LOST) articles/posts that don’t ‘tell all’, but I’ve decided to be completely spoiler-free for Monday’s Heroes.

The first from BuddyTV speculates that the 5 impending deaths from the finale might actually be the death toll for the month of May.

“On a more upbeat side, my own contacts are telling me that five deaths is not the total for the finale, but the total for the month of May, and that only one of the DarkUFO deaths can actually be confirmed. ” - from LOST Death Pool Overflowing!

I’ll be relieved if this is the case and that we won’t be loosing more main characters! BuddyTV article LOST Finale Spoilers revealed - But Are They Real? also includes more unconfirmed finale-flavored rumors.

The Tailsection also posted a proposed storyline for the finale at “Spoilers Ate My Brain” based on the previews and “insider-info”. It takes a closer look (read: frame-by-frame) at the trailer for the finale. It is a little more revealing, but doesn’t answer any mysteries for us. (Plus, I don’t trust the editors to completely cap the episode in a trailer ;))

I’m sure you’ve already checked out the easter eggs and reviews/recaps from “Greatest Hits”. But, have you seen these?
