What are your favorite TV Shows?? Leave a comment to tell me what shows you watch! If you like to blog about your favorite shows, leave me a link to your recap or review :)

Hope to see you again soon! Thanks for stopping in :)

On my DVR

After a recent trade on the Lakers (which apparently was very big news), I told DH to sign up for the NBA package through our satellite provider as an early Valentine’s gift.

We were both very excited to also upgrade to HDTV in the process and bump our recorded DVR time to 450+ hours. Yeehaw! This means I can keep ALL episodes of LOST, Heroes and Grey’s Anatomy to my heart’s content ;)

On the flip side, it also meant giving up all currently recorded episodes and timers that we rely on to capture our favorite TV shows. I suggested taking note of all the timers to reprogram them on our new unit. To our surprise, there were 61 shows being recorded! In no particular order, this is what we found:

Timers on DVR
Stargate Atlantis
Battlestar Galactica

New Blog Design!

I’m very excited about my new blog design!!!

Thanks to WPDesigner.com, CSS Tab Designer, PS Elements 6, and a bit of elbow grease, I was able to get it up in less than a day. I’m still working out some bugs and adding some of the original elements, but I am happy thus far.

I hope to also be blogging more. I enjoyed the fall season’s episodes to their full extent. Which, at the time, did not include watching with my dinosaur laptop. I’ve since upgraded my laptop. Now I just have to remember to take some notes ;)

p.s. I also updated my widget to match!

We interrupt this regularly scheduled blog…

Holy rotten plug-ins, Batman!

So sorry to my weekend visitors who might have received a 404 error on my blog. Apparently, one of my plug-ins was causing my individual posts to “disappear”. But, with the help of BlueHost customer support, I was pointed in the right direction. (I enjoyed talking TV with him too!)

If you are looking for a bloghost or webhost, I highly recommend BlueHost!

(Note: BlueHost doesn’t provide technical support for WordPress, but their customer service still is fantastic.) ;)

Help Choosing a Webhost!

I’m very excited! For Mother’s Day this year, I’m getting the perfect geek gift – web hosting! We’ve narrowed it down to two services – 1and1
and BlueHost. We’ve gone back and forth on which one we like better.

I’m familiar (and comfortable) with these two services because I’ve used or seen them on other projects and heard very positive reviews. Now that I’m picking one for my personal and business sites, I’m taking a closer look at features, pricing, and overall usability. We’re looking to spend $10 or less per month. Here’s a run down on what I’ve like so far:

1and1

(from their webpage)

  • Included domains, private registration
  • Blog, chat
  • 250GB Webspace
  • PHP & MySQL
  • 2500 email accounts
  • Website Builder
  • Photo Gallery
  • Starter Software package
  • FrontPage extensions
  • Marketing package
  • Blog (WordPress based)
  • Security features
  • 90-day money back guarantee

BlueHost

(from their front page)

  • 300GB Hosting Space
  • Host Unlimited Domains
  • Blog, Chat, Boards
  • 2,500 email accounts
  • PHP & MySQL
  • FrontPage Extensions
  • Free Domain
  • Site Builder Included
  • Security features and backups
  • Site promotion

Whoohoo – an included domain too! I’ve been looking up different domains.

They each offer almost the same package for the price. I have friends who could help me get started with 1and1, so they were our first choice but we decided to shop around. That is when I found BlueHost and realized they powered some of the sites I frequent and adore.

On the BlueHost site, they provide a demo of the user interface so I can see what I’m working with before purchasing. (As a marketing-type person, this was a very smart move on their part.) I haven’t seen the 1and1 interface, so I can’t compare. I was told it was easy to use though.

I think the most useful review (wish I still had the link to re-read) pointed out that BlueHost has the better potential for growth, if you are looking to build a business website. Eventually, that is where we’re headed, so we’re interested in BlueHost.

1and1 is excellent for a first-time web builder or for a personal site. It is still at the top of my list. I believe their business packages are also excellent, but I got the impression that BlueHost was a tiny bit better.

We’ll be deciding soon, so we’ll have one or the other! I don’t think we could go wrong with either provider.

This also means I may have a change in blog format somewhere in my future and may explain any absences! I’m not sure if I’ll be working in switching now or after the season finales. No matter what, I’ll be sure to leave a link!

Update: I picked a host: BlueHost! The new URL for this blog is http://tvshowsilike.com!
