Congratulations Sabra! So You Think You Can Dance Winner!

America voted Sabra Johnson as this season’s favorite on So You Think You Can Dance which was revealed in last night’s finale episode. The 2-hour results show featured the favorite performances of the judges. Two of my favorite Sabra performances were reprised – her slow hip-hop with Dominic (aka D-Trix) and the jazz-contemporary with fellow top 4 dancer Neil.

The dancer is not new to television and appeared in Disney’s pop-culture hit High School Musical whose sequel hits the screens tonight. Sabra appears in “Status Quo” in a prominent “cameo” as one of the skaters.

On Wednesday’s episode (8/15), host Cat Deeley interviewed the top 4 finalists one-on-one and Sabra shared more about her personal feelings on the competition. (See interview in this post.)

Sabra quotes:
Sabra Johnson Triumphs as Dance Champ on People.com:

“I feel ridiculous,” [Sabra] told PEOPLE moments after her win Thursday night.

“It’s so overwhelming and so surreal just to think that, first of all, I’m a girl, and, second of all, I’m from this little, tiny town in the middle of nowhere and I didn’t know anything coming into this, honestly … it’s amazing.”

‘So You Think You Can Dance’ names winner on CNN.com:

“I can’t take the smile off my face, and it’s hurting so bad,” the 20-year-old from Roy, Utah, told The Associated Press after learning she won Thursday.

LOST Finale Spoilers (?!) and Looking Glass reviews

Ever since I went cold-turkey and quit reading spoilers prior to the Season 5 Finale of BtVS, I decided NOT to take a peek at episode spoilers or visit forums before actually watching. (And if you know what BtVS episode I’m talking about, then you know how surprising the last 5 minutes were!)

But, with season finales just days away, I have ventured a look-see at the pre-show buzz for ABC’s LOST and NBC’s Heroes. I’ve managed to find a couple interesting (LOST) articles/posts that don’t ‘tell all’, but I’ve decided to be completely spoiler-free for Monday’s Heroes.

The first from BuddyTV speculates that the 5 impending deaths from the finale might actually be the death toll for the month of May.

“On a more upbeat side, my own contacts are telling me that five deaths is not the total for the finale, but the total for the month of May, and that only one of the DarkUFO deaths can actually be confirmed. ” – from LOST Death Pool Overflowing!

I’ll be relieved if this is the case and that we won’t be loosing more main characters! BuddyTV article LOST Finale Spoilers revealed – But Are They Real? also includes more unconfirmed finale-flavored rumors.

The Tailsection also posted a proposed storyline for the finale at “Spoilers Ate My Brain” based on the previews and “insider-info”. It takes a closer look (read: frame-by-frame) at the trailer for the finale. It is a little more revealing, but doesn’t answer any mysteries for us. (Plus, I don’t trust the editors to completely cap the episode in a trailer ;) )

I’m sure you’ve already checked out the easter eggs and reviews/recaps from “Greatest Hits”. But, have you seen these?

LOST in Translation: More ‘Man Behind the Curtain’

Even after sleeping on it, I know there is still so much to think about from last night’s LOST episode. I’ve mentioned before that I try not to check into the spoilers, except I am anxious to see how this season will wrap up and see how others (bloggers, not The Others) have interpreted the symbols and references in the episode.

I’ve read some interesting recaps/reviews of “Man Behind the Curtain” that you might be interested in:

  • (Your link here… please leave a link to your recap in the comments. I can’t wait to read your thoughts!)

I’ll probably re-watch the episode this weekend. You know, after I’ve caught up on Grey’s. Maybe I’ll make Mother’s Day weekend a LOST marathon. I wonder if I can send DH and the kids out for 19 TV hours??!!!

The Apprentice – Los Angeles, Finale

(Spoilers if you haven’t watched the finale yet.)

Although a fan of reality tv show, this season was the first time I caught Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice”. I liked this season’s twist in that it was held here in CA and in Los Angeles close to where I worked in Century City (a few blocks from Beverly Hills).

Also, my mom would always share anecdotes from The Apprentice – how they solved a problem, set up a project, or how candidates handled team ‘drama’. She thought it might come in useful during the required team projects I did for my MBA classes.

So finally, I caught a few episodes this season (okay, just the premiere, last week’s ep, and tonight’s finale) and really enjoyed it! Tonight’s final episode was held at the Hollywood Bowl (which holds favorite memories for me). Since I was an occasional viewer, I appreciated that they gave a brief overview of the projects they worked on and shared more personal info on the final two characters.

After last week’s projects, I felt Donald Trump made the right decision to select Stefani and James as the final two. Personally, I thought they made the stronger commercial spot and exemplified better team work. I was especially glad to see an empowered woman and an Asian entrepreneur in the final two.

Throughout the evening, both Stefani and James exhibited a lot of class and confidence. I couldn’t imagine having a 13-week ‘job interview’ being broadcast on national television! I don’t think I would have the same composure under the lights, camera, and face-to-face with The Donald. Huge props to all the contestants that made it onto the show.

The jobs that Trump offered were amazing – project manager at either a development in the Caribbean or downtown Atlanta. Incredible opportunities, huge amounts of responsibility, leadership, and know-how needed.

During the final round of questions, I felt that Stefani was a good match for her choice of opportunity pick because she had a background in construction and development law. She also came across as very self-assertive and well-spoken. Her strategy (if it indeed was her strategy) to lay low and not engage in confrontation worked to her benefit. I am excited for her that she was hired!

Line of the night:
“Stinky bums are funny…” Frank, one of the final four finalists

Battlestar Galactica: Crossroads, Part 2 *Updated*

I just happened to catch the final season episode of Battlestar Galactica with Mr. TVJunkie (my husband). I haven’t kept up with the series, but this episode rocked!

I was digging the music (that the characters kept hearing mysteriously throughout the episode).

At the very end… OMG – U2!!!! That in itself is a good enough reason to watch the series again. I need to get that song on iTunes. LOL!

Update: Ok, so it was a song sung by U2 (and Jimi Hendrix and Dave Matthews and Bob Dylan and Pearl Jam and Bryan Ferry. Prince. Eric Clapton. Everlast. I. could. go. on). However, for this episode, it was performed by Bt4. Survival Instinct has a MP3 download of the song (audio from the show). Look for the 3/26 – 9:27 p.m. post. Thanks to Survival Instinct for the link!

Check out the wiki for more info on the song “All Along the Watchtower“.

In this episode:

  • Four of the final five cylons revealed!
  • Return of a familiar face
  • Apollo/Lee’s compelling “forgiven” argument in defense of Baltar
  • Earth was mentioned.
  • Does anyone wonder if Lee was dreaming at the end?

Do you watch BSG? How long have you been watching the series? What did you think of the finale and the revelation of the ‘new’ cylons?
